The Carolinas Chapter of NAVHDA will conduct our Fall test on October 14th and 15th at the Sandhills Game Lands

“Drop Zone” near Aberdeen NC  (  (the link is not spelled incorrectly, copy and paste into browser as is).

Sandhills Gamelands “Oran Drop Zone” - From Aberdeen, travel approximately 10 miles south on Hwy 1 to Hoffman, NC. Turn left onto SR 1602 (School Road, then turn left after the RR tracks and follow Butler Road). Continue approximately 2.5 miles (estimated) south, following signs to Test HQ on the left.

           The test will start each day at 7:30 am – handlers and volunteers please be on the site by 7:00 am

Entry Fees

Natural Ability $125.00 members of Carolinas Chapter, $150.00 nonmembers
UPT and UT $150.00 members of Carolina Chapter, $185.00 nonmembers


All recognized pointing breeds are eligible for NAVHDA tests as long as the dog is purebred and registered with the NAVHDA registry. The registration form can be down loaded from the International website.

Dogs are eligible for Natural Ability testing up to and including the day they reach 16 months old. Dogs over 16 months may be run for evaluation only and may only be run if space is available. No classification can be awarded to a dog running for evaluation regardless of score attained.


Test entries are limited and will be taken on a first come first served basis, subject to the rules of eligibility stated above. A test entry consists of a completed form accompanied by the correct entry fee. Please print legibly or type your entry form online and then print it. All information must be included with your entry. If the NAVHDA registration number (NR) is not yet assigned, enter "pending" on the form and provide the NR number when it is available.


Entries withdrawn or cancelled by 2 months before the test will receive 

a refund of the test entry minus $25.00. 

After the 2 month period, no refunds will be made. If your dog is unable to complete the test because of medical condition or death, a written note from your veterinarian must be provided for a full refund.


An email message will be sent to all entrants confirming receipt of entry and the running order for the test. We will try to schedule the test to meet your preferred running day. The running order will be sent to all entrants at least 2 weeks before the test date. If upon receipt of your entry the test is full, you will be contacted to see if you would like to be on the waiting list. If you do not want to be on the waiting list, a full refund will be provided.

Meals: A hot lunch will be served on the grounds each day. This lunch will be a nice meal of grilled meat, cooked fresh that day and served with several sides, Drinks included. Price for each lunch is $10.00. The cooking will be done by a local expert grill masters, Claude Williams ,Matt White and Jamie Harrington . You will enjoy this meal.

JUNE 6TH 2017

We are planning to train Saturday, June 10 in NC.  The training site is in Four Oaks about 40 minutes east of Raleigh.  Larry Elmore, Chapter President is our training leader.

Field fee is $10 (the chapter must rent this property) per membership.  Training focus is track for NA dogs and drag for UT dogs.  There are no live birds available.  Those training should bring a frozen (thawed) pheasant, duck, chukar. 

Start time is 7:30 a.m.

The training site has a pond so you can cool your dog between runs.

You must RSVP by Wednesday, June 7 to Vivian either by email or text 704-650-2488.  The site address will be provided only to those who are coming to the training.  If not enough persons want to attend, training will be cancelled.

The chapter has merchandise for sale: T-shirts (long and short sleeve - various colors), hoodies, and zipped sweat jackets, Yeti mugs, and water bottles.  I will bring an assortment of items but if you are interested in a particular size or style contact me separately.
